Job Description
To provide companionship by making weekly home visits to a person who
is isolated due to age, illness or disability.
Responsibilities
- Contact client within three days of receiving information.
- Visit client weekly on day and time arranged.
- Notify volunteer coordinator if unable to visit clients for over a
four week period.
- Report problems and concerns to volunteer coordinator.
Qualifications
- Able to relate to older people with empathy patience and good listening
skills.
- Communicate clearly and effectively. Awareness of the aging process.
- Ability to develop quality relationship within the scope of the Friendly
Visitor program.
- Must have transportation to and from the client's home.
Phone-A-Friend
Job Description
To provide socialization by making phone calls to a person who is isolated
due to age, illness or disability.

Transportation
Job Description
Transport eligible Aging Services, Inc. clients to medical appointments.

information.)
Responsibilities
- Arrive at clients home at designated time.
- Assist client in and out of car if requested, do not lift or carry.
- Obey all traffic and safety laws.
- Return client home and assist to house if needed.
Qualifications
- Posses a valid Iowa drivers license.
- Approved driving record check from the Department of Transportation.
(Approval is subject to having no more than two accidents
or citations in the last five years.)
- Have auto insurance.
- Access to a safe, road worthy automobile.
Office Assistant
Job Description
To assist Volunteer Coordinator with various office duties.
Responsibilities
- Construct client files
- Telephone clients and volunteers.
- Filing
- Computer data entry

- Special events
Qualifications
- Good telephone communication skills
- Dependable
- Willing to accept direction
- Friendly and courteous
- Must like working with the elderly
Chore
Job Description
Chore volunteer may perform a number of household tasks for Aging Services,
Inc. clients including house cleaning, yard work, assistance with moving,
mowing, or shoveling.
Responsibilities
- Contact client promptly after receiving information.
- Complete task assigned.
- Contact Volunteer Coordinator with any concerns.
Qualifications
- Dependable Ability to perform physical labor.
- Must have transportation to clients home.
Telecare
Job Description
Making brief telephone calls from the Aging Services, Inc. volunteer
office to check on the well being of Telecare clients.
Responsibilities
- Report to Aging Services, Inc. office to complete Telecare calls.
- Record information gathered during phone conversation on Telecare call
sheet.
- Report any concerns to Volunteer Coordinator.
Qualifications
- Ability to think and act calmly in the face of a potential emergency.
- Ability to clearly and concisely document the content of a brief phone
conversation.
- Ability to express concern and friendliness to clients over the phone
while keeping the call brief.
Milestones Adult Day Health Center
Job Description
A wide variety of volunteer opportunities are available at Milestones
including clerical, music, cooking, art, computer lab, gardening, cards,
and one-on-one interaction with clients. One time volunteer opportunities
and/or ongoing assignments are available.
Responsibilities
- Report for scheduled volunteer time.
- Report any concerns to Volunteer Coordinator and/or Milestones staff.
Qualifications
- Willingness to work with a diverse group of people.
- Ability to relate to older people with empathy and patience.
